Layers of the Earth

WALT make a model of the layers of the earth out of play-dough

So.... that when learn about natural disasters, we can use our knowledge of the layers to understand them better.
To.... help us in topic and science and learn about the earth around us.

The crust is the first layer and has 7 huge plates. It includes the continents and seas. It’s 15-75km thick.

The mantle has two parts. One part is lower mantle and the second part is the upper mantle. The upper mantle is 400 km thick. It is iron, magnesium and silicates. The lower mantle is 2300km thick and has more dense then the upper mantle.

The last two layers are the outer core and the inner core. The outer core is 2300km thick. It is liquid which means it’s just like water and is very hot. It has nikel, sulphur and iron. The Inner core is 1220km thick. It is solid and contains a temperature that goes up to 6650 degrees Celsius. I made all of the layers of the earth out of play dough.
